It felt like years that the Westcoasty train was stuck on the tracks, not moving, but much to our delight, it's starting to feel like the train has left the station, and Westcoast IPA and DIPA are filling glasses north to south and east to west. Playing with various style iterations, we feel we've hit paydirt with Stained Glass Curtain. With a mellow honey-like malt profile and a moderate bitterness that reminds you that you're drinking a Double IPA but without ripping your palate like a pair of pre-COVID jeans, this is a balanced hop bomb that introduces a completely new-school hop profile in a mid-school form factor. Blending Mosaic, Strata, and Bru-1 hops, we get an absurd amount of over-the-top ripe tropical fruit stinking up the glass with notes of super sweet pineapple, Hawaiian Punch, raspberry compote, papaya paletas, fresh-cut melon, and strawberries. Dry and crisp with nothing but juicy and tropical flavors makes Stained Glass Curtain a delicious hodgepodge of Westcoast sub-styles that we can't get enough of.
