A Hoppenbier, is a beer brewed according to recipes from bierkeur in 1501 and was the first beer brewed with the addition of hops instead of gruit (herbs).Our version is brewed like a transitional beer of the day might have been brewed, using herbs and hops as the style developed into the beers we enjoy today.It is made with lots of oats and a bit of wheat malt, which gives the beer a very mellow taste with a bit of a floral body from the Lavender, Chamomile, Heather Tips, Licorice Root and Mugwort. The addition of Saaz, Sorachi Ace and Fuggle hops leaves you with a spicy, peppery and slightly hoppy finish.The nuclear test of the first detonation of a nuclear weapon was codenamed Trinity, but the atomic device was nicknamed "The Gadget". The date of the Trinity test is usually considered to be the beginning of the Atomic Age. Just as the "Gadget" ushered in a new era, the Hoppenbier did the same and paved the way for todays modern beers.
