Описание

On April 5th in 1927 the ship Sæfari was lost at sea, along with all its crew as it sailed towards Eyrarbakki in South Iceland. One of the crew members was a man named Sigurður Þórarinsson who was the founder of the Eyrarbakki brewery. He had planned to manufacture a white ale called Bakk-Öl. He had prepared the production, bottles and labels. Sigurður had intended to obtain a bit more cash to kick-start the production by joining the crew of Sæfari. Sadly, nothing ever came of it.When we founded Lady Brewery, Raxel heard this story. The beginning of our company the tides of fate were oft stormy and brutal. At this time, she often thought of the fate of Sigurður and he became a kind of anchor for us. We both have sailor‘s blood running through our veins, and we share a love for the ocean. Raxel‘s grandfather was a captain of the ship Kaldbakur owned by the Akureyri shipping company, and many of our ancestors were fishermen. Þórey got married at the Grótta lighthouse in Reykjavik. We therefore decided to dedicate one of our beers to the seafarers, which in Icelandic is almost the same word: Sæfarar. Our beer is dedicated to all seafarers, in past, present and future, and especially Sigurður. We wanted to make the white ale that he was never able to produce. Our recipe is very old fashioned and traditional for that time. The grain is Pilsner, wheat and oats which he probably got from a bakery run brother in law. The beer is spiced with Angelica root, seeds and peaches.
