Brandy, No Ice Please - Single Barrel Series #1

The first release in our Single Barrel Series sees an ex Remy Martin cask, first filled with Brandy in 1988, age a Berliner style ale on redcurrants picked from our little local allotment. We brewed with a classic base of Belgian Pilsner malt & Irish flaked oats, hopped with a touch of Cascade and fermented with traditional brewers yeast & lactobacillus. A few weeks later, we bartered with the chickens and stripped the fruit before they had the lot gobbled. The beer was carefully racked onto the berries and aged for 8 months. The resulting ale is a faint pink in colour, with a soft wine like carbonation. The nose is faint Brandy with a dry & fruity tartness on the tongue, rounded off with a crisp long sweet finish.
