I was feeling for nostalgic for the once popular American Strong Ale. Big beers that didn't comfortably fit into any particular category.Malty and boozy but not quite enough to be a barleywine. Very hoppy but too malty and dark to be an IPA.This beer was built intentionally big and brash to be aged and mellowed with time in second use bourbon barrels where it will eventually become HardBark. THIS is the young, un-aged bit that didn't fit in the barrels presented in its young intense glory.
